Volunteering with Taita Inti is more than help with practical tasks. Your presence is part of what makes the container safe enough for other people to do difficult work in. This page is the whole agreement — what we ask, and what you get.
Understanding the mutual agreement — what is expected of you, and what Taita Inti owes you in return.
Arriving on time, meeting the team, and preparing the retreat space together before participants arrive.
Being present, attentive and available throughout the retreat, and particularly during ceremonies.
Supporting the final clean-up and staying with the team until the retreat is genuinely finished.
Arrival. Ideally one day before the retreat begins, so there is time for preparation, team alignment and a walkthrough of responsibilities. Otherwise on the first day of the retreat, no later than 2:00 PM.
Remain until the very end. That includes the final clean-up, after all participants have left.
Failing either of these may mean losing the volunteer benefit. Late cancellations, or not honouring an agreed commitment, may also affect future invitations. We are direct about this because the retreat genuinely depends on it.
If you have a car with you during the retreat, tell us in advance. Volunteers with transport are enormously useful for logistics and supplies.
Be on time for every scheduled responsibility. If you are assisting at a tobacco ceremony, be ready before it starts. If you have the kitchen, meals go out on the retreat schedule. The whole thing runs on people doing their part at the agreed time.
Arriving early lets the team settle, receive clear instructions, prepare the areas together, and have everything participants need ready before they walk in.
Volunteers do not take plant medicine while volunteering during ceremonies. When volunteers are in their own process it becomes hard to stay present and available for participants. Your complimentary retreat is offered separately, in recognition of the service.
Volunteers do not perform healing work on participants — no energy work, physical healing, spiritual intervention, plant remedies or personal ceremonies — without explicit permission from the lead shamans. The healing team decides what support each person needs. If you think someone needs help, tell the team rather than acting alone.
After completing your volunteer commitment you may attend one Taita Inti retreat free of charge, equivalent to the type of retreat where you volunteered. Volunteer at an Amazon Weekend, receive an Amazon Weekend.
It is non-transferable, has no cash value, and is subject to availability. Volunteer places and complimentary retreat places are always confirmed in advance by Taita Inti.
Every meal prepared, every space cared for, every moment of attention contributes to an environment where something real can happen. Thank you for that.
Tell us which retreat you are drawn to and what you can offer. We will go through the commitment with you before anything is agreed.
